ID:STYK1_HUMAN DESCRIPTION: RecName: Full=Tyrosine-protein kinase STYK1; EC=2.7.10.2; AltName: Full=Novel oncogene with kinase domain; AltName: Full=Protein PK-unique; AltName: Full=Serine/threonine/tyrosine kinase 1; FUNCTION: Probable tyrosine protein-kinase, which has strong transforming capabilities on a variety of cell lines. When overexpressed, it can also induce tumor cell invasion as well as metastasis in distant organs. May act by activating both MAP kinase and phosphatidylinositol 3'-kinases (PI3K) pathways (By similarity). CATALYTIC ACTIVITY: ATP + a [protein]-L-tyrosine = ADP + a [protein]-L-tyrosine phosphate. SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Membrane; Single-pass membrane protein (Potential). TISSUE SPECIFICITY: Widely expressed. Highly expressed in brain, placenta and prostate. Expressed in tumor cells such as hepatoma cells L-02, cervix carcinoma cells HeLa, ovary cancer cells Ho8910 and chronic myelogenous leukemia cells K-562, but not in other tumor cells such as epidermoid carcinoma (A-431). Undetectable in most normal lung tissues, widely expressed in lung cancers. SIMILARITY: Belongs to the protein kinase superfamily. Tyr protein kinase family. SIMILARITY: Contains 1 protein kinase domain.
The RNAfold program from the Vienna RNA Package is used to perform the secondary structure predictions and folding calculations. The estimated folding energy is in kcal/mol. The more negative the energy, the more secondary structure the RNA is likely to have.
Pfam Domains: PF00069 - Protein kinase domain PF07714 - Protein tyrosine and serine/threonine kinase

The pictures above may be empty if there is no ModBase structure for the protein. The ModBase structure frequently covers just a fragment of the protein. You may be asked to log onto ModBase the first time you click on the pictures. It is simplest after logging in to just click on the picture again to get to the specific info on that model.
Orthologous Genes in Other Species
Orthologies between human, mouse, and rat are computed by taking the best BLASTP hit, and filtering out non-syntenic hits. For more distant species reciprocal-best BLASTP hits are used. Note that the absence of an ortholog in the table below may reflect incomplete annotations in the other species rather than a true absence of the orthologous gene.
