DESCRIPTION: RecName: Full=Vacuolar protein sorting-associated protein 28 homolog; Short=H-Vps28; AltName: Full=ESCRT-I complex subunit VPS28;
FUNCTION: Component of the ESCRT-I complex, a regulator of vesicular trafficking process.
SUBUNIT: Component of the ESCRT-I complex (endosomal sorting complex required for transport I) which consists of TSG101, VPS28, a VPS37 protein (VPS37A to -D) and a FAM125/MVB12 protein (FAM125A or -B) in a 1:1:1:1 stoechiometry. Interacts with TSG101, VPS37B, VPS37C, FAM125A and FAM125B. Interacts WITH VPS36; the interaction mediates the association with the ESCRT-II complex. Interacts with SNF8 and VPS25. Interacts with CEP55.
INTERACTION: Q99816:TSG101; NbExp=3; IntAct=EBI-727424, EBI-346882;
SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Cell membrane. Late endosome membrane; Peripheral membrane protein.
SIMILARITY: Belongs to the VPS28 family.
SIMILARITY: Contains 1 VPS28 C-terminal domain.
SIMILARITY: Contains 1 VPS28 N-terminal domain.

-  Primer design for this transcript

Primer3Plus can design qPCR Primers that straddle exon-exon-junctions, which amplify only cDNA, not genomic DNA.
Click here to load the transcript sequence and exon structure into Primer3Plus

Exonprimer can design one pair of Sanger sequencing primers around every exon, located in non-genic sequence.

The pictures above may be empty if there is no ModBase structure for the protein. The ModBase structure frequently covers just a fragment of the protein. You may be asked to log onto ModBase the first time you click on the pictures. It is simplest after logging in to just click on the picture again to get to the specific info on that model.

-  Orthologous Genes in Other Species
  Orthologies between human, mouse, and rat are computed by taking the best BLASTP hit, and filtering out non-syntenic hits. For more distant species reciprocal-best BLASTP hits are used. Note that the absence of an ortholog in the table below may reflect incomplete annotations in the other species rather than a true absence of the orthologous gene.
